Mayank
I am an undergraduate research student at the Center for
Computational Natural Sciences and Bioinformatics (CCNSB),
IIIT Hyderabad, advised by Prof. Subhadip Mitra.
My research interest lie in Dynamical Systems and Networks, Machine Learning, Quantum Computing and in general application of Computer Science in Interdisciplinary fields.
I am currently working on applied Quantum Computing for Physics applications with Prof. Subhadip Mitra and on Pseudo-spectral Discretization of Dirac Operators with Dr. Julian Lenz.
I also previously worked with Prof. Geoffrey Hutchison on the project 'Active Learning based Bayesian Geometry Optimizer' as a part of Google Summer of Code 2023.
You can read more about the project here and can check out my project blog here.
The main aim of the project was generating the lowest energy conformer for a given molecule using Bayesian optimization locally in internal coordinates (bond lengths, bond angles, dihedral angle) and finding good initial estimates for the internal co-ordinates given a molecule.
Besides academics, I am also a trained sketch Artist by training. I like writing poetries, playing piano/guitar in my free time.
I also work as a volunteer for an NGO and teach students on weekends, it's a very intrinsically satisfying experience.
If someone is also interested in volunteering, they can check out Make a Difference (MAD) NGO.
